I show that Daniel Lewis m Mary Maxson. My source is Michael Cook, "Lewis Families." This needs to be verified since it is a secondary source. The abstract seems to me to be unclear. I suggest that you look up the original deed in the Westerly records or on the microfilm from the Family History Library at a Family History Center. I show the will of Daniel Lewis was dated 1 Feb 1717/18 and probed in Westerly 24 Feb 1717/8. The will neams wife Mary; sons, John (eldest), Jonathan (<21), and Daniel Lewis; and Dau: Mary, Dorcas and Hannah (<18). The will of David Lewis of Westerly was rejected 10 Nov 1718 because David was NCM. The records name his wife Elizabeth, and sons: Elisha (eldest), David (14-21), and a dau Mary (also 14-21). He also appears to have had a son Isaac and a daughter Prudence. There is an erroneous account on the internet attributed to a preliminary draft of a Lewis genealogy that I published in 1993 showing that Daniel's daughter Mary is the one who married Nathaniel Lewis. That is incorrect. Daniel's daughter Mary is the one who married John Langworthy. Nathaniel Lewis probably married Joseph Lewis' daughter, Mary. Savage also got Nathaniel's wife's parentage wrong. I show the following children for Daniel and Mary: John who m Anna Clarke; Mary who m John Langworthy; Dorcas who m Robert Burdick; Daniel m Martha Prosser; Jonathan; and Hannah m(1) William Crumb; m(2) Stephen Hall.
