Cathalene was born in Westerly May 31, 1894, to Thomas J. Higgins and Gertrude (Larkum) Higgins. Somewhere around 1908/09, she purportedly ran away with "Mr. Reed." Her mother, Gertrude was reported to have brought her back and had the "marriage" annulled. But, out of that union a boy named Donald Reed was born--Sept. 20, 1910, in RI.
