Charlie and Donna, The early books in Westerly and surrounding towns are called Town Council and Probate. As the name implies they contain both the Town Council Meeting Minutes and Probate. I believe these are designated in Beaman as Vol XA:page# where "X" refers to the specific volume number. About 1800 the probate records were entered in separate volumes from the Town Council records. These would be the ones designated as Vol. XB:page#. So you have correctly assumed that Vol 4B is Vol 4 of the Probate Records.
