    3. Hi Everyone, I have 2 hardcover books entitled: "The Old Stone Bank" History of Rhode Island. I bought these books and a few more from a 2nd hand used book store in Newport while I was on vacation in RI doing genealogy a few years ago. One book is published in 1929 and Vol II in 1931. Vol II by John Williams Haley "The Rhode Island Historian". There are about 60 bios and stories in each book. The biographies and stories are each 1, 2 or 3 pg long. On the front cover both books say "Published in Commemoration of the One Hundred and Tenth Anniversary of the Founding of the PROVIDENCE INSTITUTION FOR SAVINGS". There is an embossed image of the domed bank. The 2 banks mentioned in each book are the Olneyville Branch and Empire-Aborn Branch. Vol I - Stephen Hopkins, Catherine Littlefield Greene, Jemima Wilkinson, Gov. John & Wm Cranston, Simeon Potter, etc and other events such as "The Old Pidge Tavern", "The Great Swamp Fight", The Colony Sloop "Tartar", "The Arcade", and many more. Vol II "Old Rhode Island Prisons", "Huegenots in Rhode Island", "Brown and Ives", History of Lighting in Providence", "Sheriff Robinson", "The Kentish Guards" and many more stories & Bios about the people and happenings in RI. In the near future, I will print the Indices from the books and if anyone is interested I can transcribe or scan the articles/stores for you. I'm not sure if I can put these stories on this website. I was just reading about accepting transcriptions only before 1921. Maggie Webster Clark
