They may be Charlie but, Elder Thomas Baker started THE first church in all of the south country. Elder Thomas Baker was set forth by Roger Williams to establish the Six Pronciple Baptist Church in Kingstowne, in about 1666. Thomas was the second pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Newport. The early records for the Six Principle Church are in the possesion of a university in Ontario and they are not giving them up.
