This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Browning, Tucker, Larkin, Worden, (and half of South County!) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XcB.2ACE/261.1 Message Board Post: I know about the Dye family of Washington County RI...(esp. Richmond township...) because one of my sticking places has been the South Kingstown RI Tucker couple Acres Card Tucker m. Abbie Dye....can't confirm her upline, but I'm reasonably sure that #1 it is NOT of the Little Compton Dyers, and #2, it is connected to the small line of Dyes who show up in the Richmond area in the late 18th and early 19th century.... I don't know why the official records on this family appear to be undercovered, but...there you have it! Anyway...at least we know that there are some Dyes in the county, and most, if not all of them were in Richmond township(which was before that part of Charlestown RI township, which was originally, in turn....a part of old Westerly, RI....so records for them could be in any one of these three town halls, and possibly also in the South Kingstown RI town hall.... If I can help further, please let me know! My very best wishes, Barry Hale Browning
How do you know that the Dyers are not a different spelling of Dyer? I am connected to the Dyers through my ggrandmother, Almy Moore, whose nephew married a Dyer from Yawgoo, which I believe is where the Dyers have lived for ages. We are about to open our cottage at the Pond. We have had a winter tenant, namely a skunk, who lived under the foundation of the cottage. I am hoping she goes away, it is a "she". It will have to warm up more than it is now before I go to stay for the summer. ----- Original Message ----- From: <barrybro@twave.net> To: <RIWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 12, 2003 11:07 PM Subject: [RIWASHIN] Re: Dye family of Washington Co., R.I. > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Browning, Tucker, Larkin, Worden, (and half of South County!) > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XcB.2ACE/261.1 > > Message Board Post: > > I know about the Dye family of Washington County RI...(esp.
