Hello, Here is the index for Vol I. "THE OLD STONE BANK' HISTORY OF RHODE ISLAND. It was published in 1929. On the front cover of the book it say "Published in Commemoration of the One Hundred and Tenth Anniversary of the Founding of the PROVIDENCE INSTITUTION FOR SAVINGS". There is an embossed image of the domed bank. The 2 banks mentioned in each book are the Olneyville Branch and Empire-Aborn Branch. I can transcribe to the list or scan in .jpg or whatever and send individual info at your request. I need to hear from the list owners what I can do. As I mentioned before each topic below is only 1-3 pages. I would call it a "Brief Encounter of the Short Kind". Hi Everyone, I have 2 hardcover books entitled: "The Old Stone Bank" History of Rhode Island. I bought these books and a few more from a 2nd hand used book store in Newport while I was on vacation in RI doing genealogy a few years ago. One book is published in 1929 and Vol II in 1931. Vol II by John Williams Haley "The Rhode Island Historian". There are about 60 bios and stories in each book. The biographies and stories are each 1, 2 or 3 pg long. On the front cover both books say "Published in Commemoration of the One Hundred and Tenth Anniversary of the Founding of the PROVIDENCE INSTITUTION FOR SAVINGS". There is an embossed image of the domed bank. The 2 banks mentioned in each book are the Olneyville Branch and Empire-Aborn Branch. Vol I - Stephen Hopkins, Catherine Littlefield Greene, Jemima Wilkinson, Gov. John & Wm Cranston, Simeon Potter, etc and other events such as "The Old Pidge Tavern", "The Great Swamp Fight", The Colony Sloop "Tartar", "The Arcade", and many more. Vol II "Old Rhode Island Prisons", "Huegenots in Rhode Island", "Brown and Ives", History of Lighting in Providence", "Sheriff Robinson", "The Kentish Guards" and many more stories & Bios about the people and happenings in RI. In the near future, I will print the Indices from the books and if anyone is interested I can transcribe or scan the articles/stores for you. I'm not sure if I can put these stories on this website. I was just reading about accepting transcriptions only before 1921. Maggie Webster Clark

Acri is a neighboring town of Luzzi, where my Giorno's are from, which could mean there's a possibility that the Westerly Giorno's could be related to me (distantly or not doesn't matter to me!). This may sound naive but the history I was taught made it seem as if less than a handful of Italians ever made it north of New York City. I'm happy to see Rhode Island has an Italian governor and that there's such a large Italian population in Westerly alone (not counting the rest of the state). Thank you so much, once again.

Here's details on them: Isaac Fowler was probably born say circa 1695 and died at South Kingston, between July 1772 and May 1773. He married Mary Hopkins on Jan. 15, 1720 (by Rouse Helm, Justice), at North Kingston. Mary, the daughter of Samuel Hopkins and Susannah (Cottrell), of South Kingston, was born between 1685-1700 and died prior to 1772. Isaac and Mary's children were Mary, Simeon, Hannah, Christopher, Deborah and Thomas. I am a descendant of their son Simeon who moved to Cambridge/Waites Cornes, Washington County, NY, with his son Abel. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Mike Huggins

I subscribe to Ancestry.com. Last year I found family in this census period. Now when I go to check on certain families and individual member , it seems that the 1910 census doesn't come up again. The person that I am looking for may come up in 1920 or 1930, but the 1910 index doesn't even register. I am talking about a whole family line. Why do I have a problem with the 1910 census. Thanks, Maggie
