    2. Hi Barry, I don't feel qualified to rank your listings, but I would add James Arnold's "Narragansett Historical Register" volumes 1 thru 9, published in the 1880's and 90's. 3. If the Washington County list members will forgive me for asking this question of you all...particularly my betters in genealogical research skills... Which of the following sources do each of you consider the most...accurate in terms of the data they provide for local genealogy...local genealogy defined as for Washington County/Pettaquamiscutt Purchase/Narragansett Country/Kingstown(e), RI? If any care to do so, and in the interest of improving all our researches, could you all rearrange the list of sources of local genealogy below, from what is in your opinion most accurate/dependable to least accurate, and at the same time, add any other sources not mentioned in their appropriate places? Also, if you know the more correct names for the following sources, in the interest of improving all our research, please correct what I have written.... * Local town hall records in order of their establishment: (North) Kingstown(e) Westerly South Kingstown Charlestown(e) Exeter Richmond Hopkinton * Local Land Records * Local Probate Records/Wills * Family Bibles * Published RI Genealogical Periodicals Covering Disputed Records * Austin's Genealogical Dictionary * Barbour's * Savage's * Local genealogies, for example Kenyon, Hazard, Browning, Gard(i)ner (Please expand this list if you know of other Washington County family genealogies) * Family Bibles * Latter Day Saints data online Thank you all for your kind attention! 3. Date: Sun, 17 Aug 2003 12:52:28 EDT From: Dewolf2323@cs.com To: RIWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com I am descended from Stephen Champlin whose son Stephen married Dinah Browning. Is there anything on this line in the letters or data you have found. Stephen and Dinah had a daughter Hannah that married Capt. James Phillips. I am trying to get more information on this marriage. Claire Claire, What is the source of your information that Hannah m Capt. James Phillips? Based on South Kingstown Land Evidence, 8:66, 199-200, she m Ezekiel Watson. I don't have my copy of the Browning or Champlin genealogies with me, so I don't know if either of these show the marriage to Phillips. I note that the Mormon website shows both marriages and shows that Ezekiel Watson died in 1811. He and Hannah have two children b 1786 and 1788 according to familysearch.org and Hannah and James had a child b 1793. The dates suggest there is a problem with one of the marriages. Bill Wright

Would it be possible to get a copy of the letters and the Cert.? I am also interested in your story on how they came into your possession. I have done research into the local Champlin family for my wife's cousin and feel that this Capt. Daniel Champlin must be in her family. Therefore I would be very interested in reading the letters as I'm sure she would be. I also would very much like to give a copy to the Genealogy section of the Westerly Library where Champlin researcher would have access to them. Looking forward to your reply! John JohnMxzz@aol.com
