I will be in Newport, RI from Sept 15 to 22 tracing my ancestors. I am a member of the Rhode Island Genealogical Society. The families are Bushee and Brayton. I have info that Patience Brayton was born in Foster and I am planing to go there first. What I am hoping to find are records of birth, death, census, land records, tax lists, court records, wills etc. Is there somewhere I am missing to trace? Can someone tell me if the court house is open on Mondays. That's where I plan to start. I will also be going to the Historical Society Library on Hope St. Thanks for any info I can get.
