I have a newspaper clipping which contains a picture of Pvt. Joseph C. McComb who was born in Providence in 1919. I have found that his family were neighbors of the Daniel Fannings, my relatives. It appears that they are not family to each other, but I could be wrong. This is what the clipping says: Pvt. Joseph C. McComb Dead of Wounds Private McComb An infantryman, Private McComb, was wounded in action for the second time in Italy on Oct. 14 and died of wounds Oct. 31. He was wounded previously on May 31, recovered and returned to action. Born in Providence Dec. 14, 1919, he attended Immaculate Conception School in Providence and was employed by American Screw Company before his induction in May, 1943. He had been overseas a year. Surviving him besides his parents are two brothers Staff Sgt. William H. McComb, Jr., Miami Beach, Fla., and Arthur C. McComb, who was discharged from the army this month; and two sisters, Helena McComb and Mrs. Elizabeth Everett. I found in the January 7, 1920 census: Father: William H. born in NY Mother: Mary C born in Ireland (came to US in 1889) Son: William H. 9 Son: Arthur C. 7 Daughter: Mary H. 5 Daughter: Elizabeth C. 3 1/12 Son: Joseph C. 0/12 Does anyone know this family?
