Hi, I have found from the WWI draft that my cousin John f, Christie worked as a sailor on the New England steamship company. Although he gave his address at the time in New York he was a boarder and his draft was stamped in Pawtucket where he normally resided. This leads me to believe that the NE Steamships run from Rhode Island to New york. I have searched the www to locate information on these ships but other than they were described as "floating palaces" can find no information. Would anyone out there know any scraps of information about these boats...........I dont suppose I would be so lucky as to find employees registers.........however, It is possible that from the stories and letters this man wrote to family back in Ireland they got the impression he was very wealthy.
