    3. Hello listers Just wanted to thank you all for all the great information you have provided over the last several days. I have gained quite a bit of information on the Maj/Col John SPURR (a 1st cousin) that I was asking about. John participated in the Revolutionary War and the Boston Tea Party. One bit of info that was sent mentions a possible obituary for the Major/Colonel. I was wondering if anyone out there might be able to do an obituary lookup on him, please. The information I received mentioning the obit is below. I believe the newspapers involved could be Providence Journal, the Providence Gazette, and/or the Providence Phenix of November 5, 1822. The following was extracted from the "Vital Record of Rhode Island, 1636 - 1850, Arnold Collection. Volume 20 Rhode Island American Marriages & Deaths. This was so kindly sent by Pam: ********************** Death: SPURR, Col. John, in 74th year. He was born at Dorchester, Mass., came here at the commencement of the Revolution, and served until 1783. October 28, 1822. See obituary Nov 5, ************************** It is this obituary that I am seeking. I am vitally interested in the cause of his death. I will be contacting the Swan Point Cemetery (where he is interred) and the RI Archives to see if there is a death certificate that might state the cause of death.
