Hi listers I am helping a friend do some research on a man by the name of Ozro Carey Barrows, born 1841 in RI, died 1928 in Providence. His wife was Jennie Eddy. His parents were Fayette and Sarah Barrows. I am trying to track down a marriage listing for a daughter of his but I don't even know her name. Does anyone have access to any kind of a RI marriage directory? I'm figuring she had to have been married before 1900. I know it is difficult without her first name but if they list the brides and the parent's names I figure it can't be too hard to find an "Ozro". The wedding may have taken place in Providence or perhaps Charlestown or Westerly as I believe they may have been summer residents there. Does anyone know of this family of Barrows? Marcia, On the 1900 Census, Orzo also had a daughter named Nellie R, age 28, who must have been from a previous marriage, because he and Jennie have 3 of 3 children living and they have only been married 12 yrs. This daughter could have married right after 1900. Marcia, If you go to the free Family Search or have access to the 1880 census, Orza is indexed "Osra C. BARROUS." He and wife Helen and children lived in Bristol at the time. Nellie R appears to be the only other daughter besides the ones Don told you about in his message. Marcia, I searched the Index of Births, Marriages and Deaths for Providence: Ozro C. Barrows & Helen Alverson, marriage Sep 17, 1863 Eva A Barrows of Ozro C. and Helen A Barrows, born Jul 23, 1869, died Feb 21 1873 Ozro C. Barrows & Jennie A. Eddy, marriage Jul 10,1888 children: Mattie H. born Apr 4, 1893 Clara E. born Oct 27, 1845 Gertrude H. born Dec 2, 1897 In Rhode Island Vitals which only go up to 1850, there are several records of Ozro's church membership and dismissals (leaving to join another church) all at Bristol. Maybe he moved back and forth between R.I. and Mass.? In the Rhode Island Historical Cemeteries Transcriptions I found only one of the three daughters born to Ozro and Jennie: Mattie H. (Barrows) Colwell 1892-1947 buried at Pocasset Cem., Cranston. (I have an Eddy 4th great grandmother) Don't know what else I could do for you with the Vitals only going to 1850.
