    3. I am interested in finding out where I would write to get a copy of the file on my being placed in a foster home in the very early 1950's. I know I went through a court in downtown Providence but 50 plus years later I don't know what court. Anyone have any ideas? Would it have gone through the state court or a county court? I believe now the State of Rhode Island has a Family Court but I doubt there was one in the 1950's. I was born in October 1939 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. My father was also a Pawtucket native (his parents were from Scotland) while my mother was from North Attleboro, Massachusetts (she was of pure French-Canadian ancestry). Genealogically I'm fine. I can take each of my major lines back to the early 1600's. My mother died in 1949 when I just turned 10. My father had a drinking problem and could not keep the family together. My two sisters went to live with an aunt and I was placed in the state home on first Doyle Street and later on Mount Pleasant Avenue in Providence. Later I was placed in a foster home on 8 View Street in Providence. In October on 1954 I moved with my foster family to North Miami, Florida. A few years ago my older first cousin told me that he and his wife wanted to adopt me but the State of Rhode Island would not approve it because they feared that my father might cause problems later. I would like to find out anything I can about my case. Any, I repeat, any ideas or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. James Morgan
