Good morning, I am interested in the TAYLOR family of Foster/Scituate, Providence Co., RI, of the 1700s. William TAYLOR (abt 1760-1802) m. Sarah SLATER (d. 1808). William was the son of Thomas TAYLOR; Sarah SLATER was the daughter of Joseph SLATER/SLAFTER/SLAUGHTER and Hannah COVEL. In 1792, William TAYLOR sold to Nathan WOOD of Foster, for only 3 pounds, 70 acres of land in Foster. Can anyone offer insight as to why there would have been such a great bargain between these two men? Kim
