JOSEPH J. HULBERT (b: 1850 - Vermont) - married 4/29/1875 at (Cathedral of St. John on N. Main St., Providence) to RUTH ISAAC LEONARD (her first husband's last name was REED). JOSEPH was the son of FRANCOIS XAVIER and KATE or CATHERINE JESS and may have resided with his parents years c 1870 - 1875 in Holyoke, MA. JOSEPH died 10/8/1931. His residence at time of death was 117 Elmwood Avenue, Providence. RUTH died 5/17/1927 They are both buried in the North Burial Ground, 5 Branch Avenue, Providence, RI (Lot 5094 - section 16) -------------------------------------------- I received from Beth Hurd ([email protected]) the following report from "Industries and Wealth of the Principal Points in Rhode Island" (PAGE 251) JOSEPH J. HULBERT, Machinist, 73 Bernon Street - A prominent machinist and maker of textile machinery in Woonsocket is Mr. Joseph J. Hulbert, who enjoys a high reputation for reliability and for turning out the finest work in each branch of the trade. The business was established in August, 1882, by Mr. Joseph J. Hulbert, who possesses a long and varied practical experience ranging over a period of 24 yhears and devotes his close personal care and attention to the prompt and accurate fulfillment of each order with which he is entrusted. Steam-engines of any pattern, from 2 to 40 horse-power are built to order, as also Greenhalgh patent stop motion for woolen and worsted yarn spoolers; woolen and worsted yarn spoolers are manufactured with or without Hulbert's new device for lifting weight off the spool; and all kinds of rubber tools are made to order, such as rollers, stitchers and boot-heel molds complete; while a special branch of the business consists of machinery r! epairs and general machine jobbing of every description. The premises utilized comprise a building, 32 x 68 feet in size, fully equipped with all improved iron, steel and general metal-working machines and appliances, such as planers, drills, lathes, etc., a 4 1/2 horse-power electric motor being the actuating force used, and regular employment is furnished eight skilled mechanics. Mr. JOSEPH J. HULBERT was born in Vermont, coming to Woonsocket 12 years ago and is a prominent member of the F.and A.M - the Order of Red Men - the Independent Order of Odd Fellows - and other of our leading societies. ---------------------------------------------- Other HULBERT family I'm searching include the brother of JOSEPH J.
