I have been waiting for someone to respond to the below. It is my understanding that the purpose of this list is allow people to help one another in a kind manner. This type of response makes me reluctant to ask questions online. Let's remember to respond in a kind manner. Carole, Jean and I are related and often make poke fun at each other. I thought that anyone would be able to see that since I signed as "cousin Don" I would never respond to another person in this way. But yes, the pupose of the list is to help each other and I did answer her question. I have spent many hours doing lookups for and sharing information with people on this list and others and will continue to do that. Sorry if you were offended in some way. Carole, How far back have you traced your Mathewson's. There have been a marriage or two between Taylor's and Mathewson's. I found an indenture for a Benjamin Taylor where his father placed him in the care of a Mathewson or Matteson at age nine to learn to make shoes. I believe it was a Henry Matteson, but I would have to look it up to be sure. Have you ever come across this in your Providence research? I have been following this discussion and am wondering how Henry Matteson connects. As far as I can determine my line of descent is as follows: Francis, Henry (the immigrant), Thomas, Thomas, Richard, and Mary Matteson (b. bet. 1757-1761; d. 7 June, 1852) who married Corpe (Corps) Essex in Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island. Mary Matteson is my gr-gr-gr-grandmother. Can anyone tell me how the immigrant James Mathewson connects to Henry Matteson or is there no connection? Thank you.
