    2. In response, my lineage, extending from the immigrant James Mathewson of early Providence, follows thusly: Thomas I, Thomas II, Thomas III, Charles, Dr. Harley, Edward, Harley, Carole. During the years in which I published the "Mathewson Gazette" (1983 to 1989), some of my readers believed that Henry Matteson was a nephew of the immigrant James Mathewson. Another refuted the possibility.
