    1. [RIPROVID] Ross and Sprague Families in Glocester 1765-1780
    2. I am researching for the answer to a question: Who are the parents of David Ross, who married Zerviah SPRAGUE in Stamford, Bennington, VT in about 1803? All evidence leads me to believe that David Ross is the son of one Samuel Ross, Jr. who lived in Glocester, VT, according to some research done by a genealogist on my behalf. The text of her latest email is partially shown below. Does anyone have reference to the Ross family and know of the Joshua Sprague/Abigail Wilbur family? Those Spragues lived in Smithfield, Providence, RI until a few years prior to the Revolution. They went to occupy land that the Arcadians had been kicked off in Sackville, Nova Scotia (Near Halifax) and then they were kicked out of Canada and returned home briefly to Smithfield and then migrated to Berkshire County (East Hoosick (Now Adams)) I located David Ross ( two children were born in Stamford, Vt) and other Rosses in vt. Well... Remember the photocopy I sent you about the William B. Browne notes on the Ross/Sprague genealogy and I said that the entry for David Ross (1776-1826) and Zerviah Sprague (1786-1852) were under the Samuel Ross, Jr. of Glocester R.I.?? Guess what I looked at today!!! A photocopy of a portion of "The Book of Ross". I looked under Samuel Ross, Jr. of Glocester, R.I. ( alot of background included) it says "interpreting the census reports, we conclude that Samuel Ross, by his wife Freelove Shippee, had four children: Hiram Ross born @ Glocester, about 1772 ---- Ross " " " before 1774; a daughter ---- " " " " after 1774; a daughter ---- " " " " a son, born after 1774 I know this is David! Think about it, why would William Browne put that entry of David and Zerviah under Samuel Ross, Jr.? He must had prove but unfortunately he did not document his source. Our answer should be there in Glocester, but I don't know why it is not showing up. I have looked at the "Vital Record of Rhode Island 1636-1850: Births, Marriages and Deaths" Vol.3 for Glocester. But oops I only looked at marriages, I need to take a look again at the births. I don't know why I made that mistake. Also looked at the entries for the Boston Transcript; David Ross -1825 OH - June 3, 1931, 1858 This is for a birth date of a David Ross in Ohio in 1825. David Ross - 1776, MS - July 3, 1911, 2098 /this is our David Ross but someone was looking for his parents back in 1911 Let me know what you think about this. Cheers, Sue I hope this all makes sense to someone. Many Thanks, Peter http://members.aol.com/ancestour/MASTHEAD.html
