Earl, I will check for the Pariseau/Pariseault you mention, when I go over to city hall. Since you already have the birth / death info., what additional info., are you looking for? If you want copies of the certificates they charge $15.00 each. Earl, There were way too many PARISEAULT/PARISEAUT's, etc in 1900 census and without the father's name .... Looks like your info came from the Social Security Death Index, though my search below on Family Tree Maker's site turned up a bit more. I suggest you send for their applications, Form SS-5, you usually get their birth date and place, parents, residence and employer at the time of application, a signature and sometimes a spouse, if any, and the mother's maiden name. Unfortunately, they raised the fee from $7 to $17 a couple months ago, probably because of all the requests from online researchers! Make sure you use the SS#, it costs less. You don't have to do a separate letter for each but don't put in too many at once! http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/fto_ssdisearch.html?Welcome=1002747996 It would probably still be worth it for a direct ancestor, though! Your oldest George would have had to apply in the 1930s so you would probably find out what he was doing during the depression. One ancestor's (a Rhode Islander!) application was stamped with an objection that the entire statute was unconstitutional! With the info from this primary source, it can lead to Census info, too. I got tons of info this way and, at a minimum, confirmed oral history with an official document for a couple generations! While only getting your direct ancestors can be a cost savings, I do want to mention that older siblings sometimes had full names of parents while younger siblings frequently only had nicknames. The full name is very helpful! Details on birthplace varied dramatically, too, and can show migration. But the cost for all that now .... Happy Hunting!
