Hi Charlie If he was here in 1850 I would guess St Mary's in Pawtucket as it was the first Catholic church in the area. St. Patrick's in Valley Falls was built in 1861 (phone # 401 725-0344) but most of their old records were destroyed in a fire many years ago. Old church records are available however, at the American French Genealogical Society in Woonsocket. I believe they are called the "Drouin" records. I know this first hand as I have seen the records for St Patrick's there (the old ones are totally in Latin) on microfilm. I believe they have a website....put it in Google and it should pop up. I don't know if they offer a look up service or not. Maybe someone else on the list is a member..Good luck!
