Hi Doreen: I'm an adopted kid and the best way to get a birth record is to petition the court (write a letter to a judge) and ask for them to release the original birth certificate for that person. I live in Oregon and we have worked very hard to have open records for adult adoptees! I think it is criminal to keep a persons's heredity a secret! Marieville is a section of North Providence. Around the Mineral Spring Avenue area. You could try the Health Department in Providence or the Providence city hall. Carolyn

If you don't require an original certificate....go to RI Archives on 222 Westminster St, Providence. All the records (or films of) go there.
