Bob Martin Usually the Bureau of Vital Statistics has the birth and death records. In Rhode Island they are held by the Division of Vital Records, Rhode Island Dept of Health ; 100 yrs for marriage records and 50 yrs for divorce; they also have the birth records, apparently for all years they were recorded. Earlier marriage and death are held by the city/town clerks. or the Rhode Island State Archives. Divorce records are held by the Clerk of Family Court 1 Dorrance Plaza Providence 02903. The State Archives also have other types of historical material. All records are $15.00 or call 401 222-2811 for current price check. Checks are payable to General Treasurer, State of Rhode Island. Dept. of Health address is 3 Capitol Hill, Rm. 101 Providence 02908.
