Does anyone know if the death records for those who died in Providence in the 1930's list where the person was to be buried? Marie Berthe Germaine Costello McGair died on 23 February 1933 in Providence. She was born in Pawtucket on 4 September 1895. Marie Berthe Germaine Aubin under the name of Bertha L. Mc Gair had the following two children with Henry Raymond Mc Gair. 1) Janet Mc Gair was born on August 28, 1924 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. She married Armond Goodreau, date and place unknown. 2) Son Mc Gair was born and died on February 17, 1933 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. He may have been stillborn or died right after birth because he was never given a name. No obituary has been found for her in the Providence Journal. Jim Morgan Salt Lake City

James, I have a grandfather who lived in Seekonk, MA and died in Providence in 1923. His death certificate includes "Where to be buried..., " plus name of spouse, parents place of birth, occupation, cause of death, undertaker, residence, etc. However, the amount and accuracy of this information depends entirely on the knowledge of the person supplying the information. I have my great grandmother's and 2 uncles death certificates. They all died in the 40's and it lists the cemetery where they ere to be buried. Carolyn...RI

My gr-grandfather died in Providence in 1928, and his death certificate contained a great deal of information including the site of his burial. In his case, it was St. Francis Cemetery. Jim, I just sent to the RI Archives, 337 Westminister Street, Providence, RI 02903, requesting copies of death records for a g grandfather who died in 1924. They sent me a copy of the record and at that time there was a line "Where to be buried" that was filled in. I don't know if the forms changed by 1933 or if they remained the same. If you want to request a copy you need to send them your information requesting non-certified, and include a SASE with extra postage. They will send you what they find in about 4 weeks along with a bill for $0.15 per pages copied. They copied title pages and book covers etc for me so you will get more then 4 pages even if you only request 4 death cert. If you want certified copies the cost is $2.00 each.
