Marcia, I'm Mattie Holmes Barrows' great-granddaughter. She married Raymond Carpenter Colwell 20 Aug 1918 in New York, New York. Her sister Gertrude Helen Barrows married John Edward Adams in Jun 1921. I don't have information on Clara Eddy Barrows' marriage (if there was one). Looking for info on SQUIRE FRANKLIN FISKE who was in the 1st Pawt Police force in the year 1881. There was a write up in the "Providence Sunday Journal " April 30 1972 but gave no particulars on subject ... perhaps born @ 1840. Thank you Frank
Hi - would anyone know of a source for the Providence Post newspaper, 24 Sept 1860? I tried a couple sources via Heritage Quest. No luck. There is a story in it about the murder of Ziba Phetteplace by his wife Lydia. I would like to get a copy. Thanks for any suggestions. Hi Bill - This week I read an LDS film of funeral records of W.H. & D.F. O'Neil funeral home, Pawtucket, RI for 1894-1897, 1902. However, in looking at the film 1902 was not there. It was stated it was in another book, but LDS did not film another book. The film said it had been filmed 1991 at Irish Genealogical Soc. and the book was a gift of "Ed McDermott". In looking at the deaths out of Little Sisters of the Poor for 94-97 I found that Little Sisters were sending their burials to "Old Catholic Cemetery". Providence. Now those inmates that had family, I am sure were sending them where their plots were or anyplace the family wished. A google search shows that Old Catholic Cemetery was also known as St. Patrick's in Providence. I have been unable to get a phone # for this cemetery & my call to St. Patrick's Church rec'd no call back. I also called 2 numbers for catholic diocese cemeteries & rec'd no call back. At this point, I have little faith in receiving any help from the diocese, after earlier promises. I found Mr. Ed McDermott's phone # on the net & called in Prov. His wife tells me he is in a nursing home with alzheimers. She says the Irish Genealogical Soc. was a very loose organ. & she knows nothing about another funeral home book???? That is the up to the date info. Any suggestions? Jeannine, I believe the Irish Genealogical Society used to hold their meetings at the Pawtucket Library. Perhaps a call to the reference desk there might yield you some clues? My research shows this cemetery is also known as St. Patrick's. It is located on Douglas Ave. Can someone provide the telephone # for this cemetery? I have been unable to locate it on the net. I tried 2 different #'s for diocese cemetery & never rec'd a call back. Apparently St. Patrick's church is now an hispanic church. There is a possibility my g/grandfather is buried there around 1902 & I would like to check it out. Many thanks, Jeannine N. C.

Frank, if you are talking about Fiskeville, RI....not much there now..a post office and an ice cream parlor and a Baptist Church. Used to be a supermarket called Everybody's Market, but that went out years ago when the Almacs came to West Warwick. The fire station is no more...Cranston closed it a few years ago. I don't know what was there in the 1800's, but I found a few sites for you on it.
