    3. WOW!!! An eyeopener! I had no middle name for Henry, so the Albert H. is plausible. Yes, that is (also) his son's name - the son who was interviewed for the biography written by my first cousin, once removed. Interesting difference in last name of Catherine. 'Cuz' spelled Henry's German town of origin (Kehl) wrong - believe she went by Albert's pronunciation. So, either a case of bad note-taking, or, Albert didn't really know his mother's maiden name, or she just shortened it for some reason. The 'MORRIS' name was later used by Albert's son as a first name for one of his boys. You are a treasure!!! Sandra theclown16@optonline.net wrote: > > Here is a Rhode Island marriage. 3. No, except for William, called 7th son of a 7th son, who studied medicine in Heidelburg, Germany - supposedly became a famous doctor. Would really like the brothers' names if you have them handy. There was some comment made about brothers being involved in war, and Henry being made bitter by the atrocities he'd seen in war - thought possible that his brothers may have been wounded or killed. If they are in MA after Civil War, then at least I'd know they were not killed. Henry/Heinrich was oldest son of August. Thanks again!! 3. My gggrandfather Heinrich (Henry) SCHOCH/SCHOCK married Catherine MORRIS on or about 12 Oct 1856/7, in Providance, RI. The minister was Frederick UPHAM. The newlyweds had worked on neighboring estates; she as ? - she had been schooled in the 'feminine arts,' he was a trained cooper and landscape architect. I do want to find more information about MORRIS. She and her two sisters lost their father in a mine accident in Nova Scotia, Canada. After reaching an independent age, Catherine worked in New York, then RI. I understand that this list is not likely to have much about her. I am especially interested in Henry SCHOCH - did any of his six or more brothers join him in RI? - they were born in Kehl, Germany, on the East Bank of the Rhine River, north of Stasbourg, France. He fought in the Civil War, first as a 90-day enrollee in Co. G, 10th RI Vol. Infantry (discharged 01 Sep 1862), then as a longer-term enrollee in Co. H, 11th RI Vol. Infantry (discharged 13 Jul 1863). Does anyone have information about these units? - where they fought? Thanks for 'listenin,' Sandra Shaw/Schoch Hartwick s.s.hartwick@centurytel.net

    3. Hi Nancy - How nice of you to offer. I have not been able to find naturalization for my great grandfather emigrant from Ireland. No one has looked in Pawtucket. Maybe that is where it is. He lived most of his years in Pascoag, (Burrillville). His name was Michael Garrahan (last name could be spelled in some variation). He was born c. 1830-35 in County Roscommon, Ireland (probably Castlemine or Cashelmeehan). He immigrated sometime in 1860's. Variously listed as 1862, 1864. Anyway the first known child was born in 1868 in Pascoag. His occupation was a stone mason. The census records state he was naturalized. (1880 & 1900). His wife's name was Mary Reynolds Garrahan. I found him living for a short time in 1871 in N.J. and from about 1892-1897 in Northbridge, Ma. and 1897-1902 in Pawtucket.
