I am trying to locate anyone that has information about a Mr. & Mrs. Harry Cook who lived in Pawtucket up until at least the 1940's. I have just discovered that they resided at 672 Main St. Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The address may be 642 Main St. They had a son Walter. Harry & Walter were members of a Masonic Order. Mrs. Cook's name was Alice and I think that her maiden name was Fowler. Thank you. Jim Galley
I hope that sks can help with a road block I have had for some time and probably will since the name is Brown. The only information I have is of my G-Grandfather and his wife. His name is Bert Brown (possibly short for something else) and wife Pearl Mae Peterson; had 9 children. They lived in and around the Panama, NY area, found that they are buried in Cutting, NY. I was lead to believe that he would possibly be related to Joseph Brown from Mass-Ct-Jerico Vt. Have also found that there area some that were from Maine. I do not have all the names of the ch. If you think you may be of service, please email me Roberta Fenno Kent

This is about the 50th time I have received this letter. Can we stay on the subject of genealogy?
Hello, Friends: I realize I am violating the spirit of these Lists in sending this, but if it were not for my interest in genealogy I would not have received it. I share it only because it is informative. Need some help with the Central Falls City Directory for 1889-1893 period. Looking for my GGrandfather Ter(r)ence F. Martin. Wife was Emma. Seems he died around this time, but Ct., RI., and Mass vitals can't confirm. Family grave is marked with his name, but diocesan burial Records don't include him in the plot. Hoping that the directory can shed some light. Thanks in advance, Bob.. Bob Martin [email protected]

Is anyone researching the above name? The immigrant was Luigi Gautieri and wife Maria Mancini Gautieri. Thank you
Good Evening Everyone : I'm making an inquiry about an ancestor by the name of Laughlin Dowling. He entered this country at the port of Newport RI in 1826. He came to this country from Ireland. I'm not to sure weather his children eight in number were born in Newport or Providence. The first was born in 1834 and the last in 1849. This Laughlin Dowling received his citizenship in 1835 through the courts in Newport. This Laughlin Dowling also appears in the 1840 & 1850 Federal Census for Rhode Island. I understand his name also appears on a disk in the " Family Tree Maker " series of disk intitled " Passenger & Immigration List Index 1538-1940 " which is disk 354. I also have several land deed's as early as 1833 in Newport. Can anyone help me with this Laughlin Dowling and family. Sincerely Steve Wilder
I will be in Newport, RI from Sept 15 to 22 tracing my ancestors. I am a member of the Rhode Island Genealogical Society. The families are Bushee and Brayton. I have info that Patience Brayton was born in Foster and I am planing to go there first. What I am hoping to find are records of birth, death, census, land records, tax lists, court records, wills etc. Is there somewhere I am missing to trace? Can someone tell me if the court house is open on Mondays. That's where I plan to start. I will also be going to the Historical Society Library on Hope St. Thanks for any info I can get. Marion Smith, Crosslake, MN
Thanks Susan, but no luck so far.!!! :-)
I have found that just going to your public library may be the answer. You may also have a genealogical library in the area. Susan Comstock in CT
Thanks for responding! Do you think these directories are someplace else other than the Hist Society? Thanks for any advice you can give me! Barbara :-)
> Can anyone tell me where to find Lincoln/Cumberland City Directories for the > years 1880-1900? Thanks for your help! > I looked athe Lincoln ones at the Rhode Island Historical Society office in Providence...but I don't remember them going back that far.. >
Laughlin Dowling also appears in the 1850 Census, Providence 6th Ward. Laughlin age 40 Occupation: Mason Mary 32 William 15 Ann 12 Jane 9 Catharine 8 John 5 Joseph 3
Found a Laughlin Dowling on Family Treemaker CD 354. New York, New York 1834 From Scott, Kenneth "Naturalizations in the Marine Court, New York City 1827-1835. Vol. XIII, Collections of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, New York. 1990, 187 p. Source Code: 8208, Source Page 64. Mary Alice
NARA lists Newport RI 1820-57 in M575 roll # 6. You should be able to rent it at your local LDS Family History Center for viewing there. It would be the second port on the roll.
