Below is a summary of your request and our response. We will assume your issue has been resolved if we do not hear from you within 48 hours. Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. Subject --------------------------------------------------------------- Removal of Aqueduct, How do I Discussion Thread --------------------------------------------------------------- Response (Wendy) - 11/19/2001 01:12 PM Hello Family Tree Maker Customer, I am sending this message to everyone who has asked about the Aqueduct file as it seems that a mass email was sent over the weekend that is causing great concern among Family Tree Maker 9.0 customers. Please read the entire contents of this message and feel free to forward it to all of those who may have been on the mailing list who started notifying people over the weekend. The aqueduct.txt file is originally set up for our beta testers with their consent to help us track and log any problems they encounter while testing Family Tree Maker. After beta testing is completed, our programmers here at Genealogy.com then deactivate the file. Unfortunately, creation of the aqueduct.txt file was not deactivated for the final Family Tree Maker Version 9.0 release. Since we became aware of this issue, we have found a simple solution. Please know that Genealogy.com does not have access to the information logged by the file. We would only have had access if you had specifically sent it to us by email. We have created an update that all customers using version 9.0 should download and install. In addition to the Aqueduct issue, this update also addresses an issue that was brought to our attention after Family Tree Maker 9.0 was produced and released where source citations may be inadvertently altered by utilizing certain functions within the program. In order to protect your family file, please download and install this update today. Please note that there are 2 versions of the update. The proper one for you to use depends upon where you purchased your copy of Family Tree Maker version 9.0. If you bought your copy of Family Tree Maker version 9 directly from Genealogy.com or it came in an envelope, download the update from http://www.Genealogy.com/update/. If you bought Family Tree Maker from a retail store or it came in a box, download the update from http://www.Genealogy.com/newinfo/. All of this information is available in further detail by visiting our Online Help Center at www.genealogy.com/help. For the complete article on the Aqueduct issue, please see: http://genealogy.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/genealogy.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp. php?p_sid=EZBHMC*f&p_lva=&p_faqid=476 For the complete article on the Source Citation issue please see: http://genealogy.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/genealogy.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp. php?p_faqid=490 We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. 1. Re: [RIPROVID] Ross and Sprague Families in Glocester 1765-1780
    2. Sue; Ross is one of the most frustrating names to search. There were Ross, in Kittery, Braintree, Watertown, Glouster, Newport and Block Island. In my research of the lines, I have found that all seen to have arrived in 1650/51, as indentured prisoners from the Battles of Dunbar and Berwick. The sticky part is that they all seemed to use the same Christian names, which makes the identification more Hellish. My line was at Block island, then Killingly & Lyme CT, on to vermont, New Hampshire and NY. You might want to contact Janet Delorey, [email protected] as she has a good deal of infoe on the various Ross lines. Alan Sherman

    1. [RIPROVID] Ross and Sprague Families in Glocester 1765-1780
    2. I am researching for the answer to a question: Who are the parents of David Ross, who married Zerviah SPRAGUE in Stamford, Bennington, VT in about 1803? All evidence leads me to believe that David Ross is the son of one Samuel Ross, Jr. who lived in Glocester, VT, according to some research done by a genealogist on my behalf. The text of her latest email is partially shown below. Does anyone have reference to the Ross family and know of the Joshua Sprague/Abigail Wilbur family? Those Spragues lived in Smithfield, Providence, RI until a few years prior to the Revolution. They went to occupy land that the Arcadians had been kicked off in Sackville, Nova Scotia (Near Halifax) and then they were kicked out of Canada and returned home briefly to Smithfield and then migrated to Berkshire County (East Hoosick (Now Adams)) I located David Ross ( two children were born in Stamford, Vt) and other Rosses in vt. Well... Remember the photocopy I sent you about the William B. Browne notes on the Ross/Sprague genealogy and I said that the entry for David Ross (1776-1826) and Zerviah Sprague (1786-1852) were under the Samuel Ross, Jr. of Glocester R.I.?? Guess what I looked at today!!! A photocopy of a portion of "The Book of Ross". I looked under Samuel Ross, Jr. of Glocester, R.I. ( alot of background included) it says "interpreting the census reports, we conclude that Samuel Ross, by his wife Freelove Shippee, had four children: Hiram Ross born @ Glocester, about 1772 ---- Ross " " " before 1774; a daughter ---- " " " " after 1774; a daughter ---- " " " " a son, born after 1774 I know this is David! Think about it, why would William Browne put that entry of David and Zerviah under Samuel Ross, Jr.? He must had prove but unfortunately he did not document his source. Our answer should be there in Glocester, but I don't know why it is not showing up. I have looked at the "Vital Record of Rhode Island 1636-1850: Births, Marriages and Deaths" Vol.3 for Glocester. But oops I only looked at marriages, I need to take a look again at the births. I don't know why I made that mistake. Also looked at the entries for the Boston Transcript; David Ross -1825 OH - June 3, 1931, 1858 This is for a birth date of a David Ross in Ohio in 1825. David Ross - 1776, MS - July 3, 1911, 2098 /this is our David Ross but someone was looking for his parents back in 1911 Let me know what you think about this. Cheers, Sue I hope this all makes sense to someone. Many Thanks, Peter http://members.aol.com/ancestour/MASTHEAD.html

    2. Hi List, I am still looking for marriage information on my great grandmother, Elizabeth Spencer HOWARD. Her second marriage to Oscar O. Litchfield took place after the birth of my grandfather James Robert HOWARD in Nov 1884 but before 1916 which is the date of a postcard addressed to her as Mrs. O.O. Litchfield. She was living in Warner, NH at that time, but she is not listed on 1910 census for Warner. I have checked marriage records in NH and MA (Mr. Litchfield was born in MA). I do not know if her first husband William HOWARD died or they divorced. I would appreciate any help from someone with access to a marriage index for RI. TIA Regards, Sandy
