    1. [RIPROVID] Sarah MAGLIOCCO
    2. Hello list, I am a new subscriber. Might anyone on the list have a relationship to Sarah MAGLIOCCO? She was born on September 2, 1897 and died in August 1977 according to the social security records. Her residence was Cranston. I suspect that Sarah was born Sarah O'HARA to James J. O'Hara and Bridget Coyle. I am also trying to prove or disprove that James J. was the son of Nicholas O'Hara. Any help on this would be appreciated. Mary Theresa McCombe New York

    3. Hi All, I called the Providence City Archives and neither 234 or 334 Pocasset Avenue existed at that time. Back to square one. But since no one in that group could read or write Italian, let alone speak/read/write English, they must have had a piece of paper with their destination written on it. Sometimes you just hit a wall when there shouldn't be one. Thanks to all who helped. 3. Hi, I am trying to do a reverse look-up in history that pertains to a Providence RI. I think I was looking for the wrong address (mistaking a 2 for a 3). To figure out what an official wrote on a 1905 ship manifest I decided I should look at how the author of that manifest wrote the numbers 2 and 3 elsewhere on the manifest, to see if that would help decipher what I was looking at. Looking at the complete manifest, lines 8 and 10, you can see the ages of some the immigrants. The first is 23 and the second 24 years of age. Both having examples of the numbers 2 and 3. http://www.sentex.net/~tolenio/napolitan.gif The 2's are very distinct from the 3's. So now I wonder if the address I should be looking for is; 334 Pocasset Ave; http://www.sentex.net/~tolenio/POCASSET.gif Never thought I would need to learn handwriting analysis, but something that rookies like me should think about when picking up only small bits of information off old manifests. Opinions anyone? Is it 334 or 234 or something else? Later, Tom -- Thomas Olenio Ontario, Canada Hardiness Zone 6a

    1. [RIPROVID] Vernile - DeLucca (sp?) Early 1900's
    2. Tom Olenio
    3. Hello All, I am looking for information regarding a family and an address dating back to 9/12/1905. On that date my great grandmother landed in New York city New York from Naples Italy, and indicated to officials her destination was 234 Pocossit Avenue, Providence RI to join her husband Ernesto Olenio. I can send you an excerpt image of the ship manifest that shows this detail, as there is some debate as to the address (penmanship issues). I want to find out who was living at the address to confirm a hunch I have in my genealogy. My hunch is that Michele Vernile was living at that address. He had a daughter Mary, who married a man named Sam DeLucca (sp?). Michele Vernile's wife died sometime in the early 1900's when his daughter Mary was just a girl, and Mary spent time with our family for a brief period during this girlhood time. In one of our old photo albums Michele Vernile is referred to as my great grandfather's half brother. Since my great grandfather (Ernesto Olenio) was a foundling, raised by a foster family in Italy, with no known parents a half brother would be quite a discovery for us. I am in Ontario Canada, can anyone in Providence RI help me? Again, I can send you images of ship manifests. Best regards and thanks, Tom Olenio -- Thomas Olenio Ontario, Canada Hardiness Zone 6a

She was b. RI - her father was b. RI and her mother Nova Scotia. William's occupation is listed as mule skinner. This doesn't fit you facts exactly - but is close enough to be considered. Florence
