Copied from a newspaper transcription sent to [email protected] Rochester, Monroe, NY Democrat & chronicle Nov. 5, 1915 MAN'S BODY IS IDENTIFIED Was that of John Lennon, of Pawtucket - Fell from Train. The body of an unknown man was found beside the New York Central's elevated tracks, near Allen street, early yesterday morning. The man had evidently fallen from a freight train in the night and been instantly killed. His skull was broken and the body was bruised. He had been dead fully four hours when discovered. Last night the body was identified as that of John LENNON, of Pawtucket. Coroner KILLIP was notified of the finding of the body and caused its removal to the morgue. Last night Owen QUINN, of Pawtucket; identified the body as that of LENNON. He said he and LENNON first met in the city about two weeks ago, and, being from the same city, they naturally exchanged confidences. He said LENNON was a repairer of jewelry, and when he failed to obtain work in that line he turned to painting signs. QUINN said he was with LENNON on Wednesday and that LENNON told him he had about decided to "beat it" out of Rochester. Coroner KILLIP wired Pawtucket last night. It is believed that the man either fell from a freight train or was killed in trying to board one.

I wrote Waltham regarding my great grandfather's record of naturalization. I received a one page document which listed the port he left and the date he arrived in Boston and the witnesses for his naturalization. Hope this helps.
I requested the naturalization data from Waltham on my GGGrandfather Martin Kane. What I got was a single page that said he was naturalized. Should I also have gotten his naturalization petition. If Waltham doesn't have it all, where do I send to/call in Providence to get all the documentation. Thanks, Bob.. Bob Martin [email protected]

Hello Everyone: We receive hundreds of messages each month for information on early American Emigrants and a few months ago we found a very good article on the subject and thought we would share it with you. Titled.......Founders of Early American Families...Emigrants From Europe 1607-1657. This is something all genealogists and researchers should read to have a better understanding of what was happening here prior to 1657. We have posted the article on our web site at: http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ Once you get there you will be looking for the link Family Pages Index which you will enter. On the Family Pages Index enter FOUNDERS OF EARLY AMERICAN FAMILIES. Everyone has FREE access to all our web site and reports contained there. Enjoy Harold Oliver America's First Families

I am seeking any information on my grandfather: Michael McCue-McHugh and/or his wife: Catherine (nee Glancy). They settled in Rhode Island after arriving from Ireland in the mid 1800s and married in 1859 in Pawtucket. Their children: Mary died after about 3 months; thomas lived about 18 months; Patrick lived to be 26 and had married Catherine Hackett; James was a mystery all his life. He was born in Central Falls in 1869 and ended up in Maryland in the early 1900s under the alias of Frank Williams. He was a patient in the Baltimore City Hosp. until 1943 where he died. My dad, Peter, was born in 1865 and died in Newark, N.J. in 194l. After my grandmother Catherine died, her husband married widow Maria (nee Fanning) Hanley in 1879 in Providence. Maria had three children of her own: Mary Ann, Patrick and Bridget. Michael & Catherine (with son Thomas) are buried in St. Patrick's cemetery in Cumberland, R.I. [email protected]

Johnny Cakes 1 cup white stone-ground corn meal 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup boiling water 1/4 cup milk Put the cornmeal and salt into a bowl. Add boiling water in a slow steady stream, while stirring constantly. Do not let it lump. Sitr in the milk to make a thickish batter that "plops" off the spoon. Heat an iron skillet or griddle. When a drop of water sizzles on it brush it with fat (I use brush on oil). Drop by mixing spoonfuls. Turn when browned. They need to cook longer than pancakes.
