I have completed the scans and web pages for the 1893 atlas of Newport by L. J. Richards & Co. These maps provide the detail that was not included for the city on the Beers 1870 maps (see http://www.rootsweb.com/~rigenweb/maps ). The main portion of the atlas is comprised of plates for the city of Newport. There is a street index for these. There is also a large map of the Island of Rhode Island (also known as Aquidneck) on which the property owners in Middletown and Portsmouth are noted. Although the scans are all done at the same resolution, the scale of the maps is not consistent from plate to plate, so you will not be able to paste sections together. These are configured for viewing on your computer. If the image fits the screen in Internet Explorer, click on the image and then click on the square icon in the lower right corner to expand it to full size. For printing, save and use an imaging program. Happy Hunting http://www.rootsweb.com/~rinewpor/maps/ Susan
