My gr grandfather John SILVIA b.1877 in Azores, Portugal came to the US in 1892. He settled and married, Mary (Shay/Shea) in Fall River, Mass. I have just found out that his name may very well have been Joao SILVEIRA. His father was also John SILVIA or Joao SILVEIRA. What caught my eye in your posting was PEREIRA. We believe that may have been my gggrandmother's name.
