I just received an original copy of "The Family of Zaccheus Gould of Topsfield" by Benjamin Apthorp Gould (Lynn, Mass.: Thomas P. Nichols, 1895. It states on p. 397 that in 1656 the grandfather of this Daniel GOULD, who was the Daniel Gould who m. Wait the dau. of John & Mary COGGLESHALL, embraced the doctrines of the Quakers. The format used to denote the date of birth of the children, referring to the month of the (Old Calendar) year, was also used by the Quakers. [Many people have erroneously converted these months of the year to dates of the new calendar!] There are many indications that the Anna GOULD, b. 14 May 1741, who m. Charles DEAKE/DAKE of Westerly, Kings Co., Rhode Island was a Baptist. Charles DEAKE/DAKE and his son Charles, Jr. were both Deacons in the Baptist church first established in Washington Co., NY, about 1772 by the Rev. (Elder) William WAITE, from Wickford, Kent Co., RI. The log church he had built was burned by the British during the "Battle of Bennington" (sic, Walloomsac, 4 miles NE of Hoosick Falls in Rensselaer Co., in New York, not VT)*. There is an historical marker to that effect. County: WASHINGTON; Town: WHITE CREEK, TOWN OF A LOG CHURCH WHICH STOOD HERE WAS BURNED BY THE BRITISH BATTLE OF WALLOOMSAC AUG. 16, 1777 Location: ON COUNTY RD. ABOUT 1-1/2 MILES WEST OF (the town of) WHITE CREEK [The location is in White Creek Twp. of Washington Co., NY about 2 miles North of the Battle. White Creek is 6 miles NE of Hoosick Falls (2 miles NE of the battle) ] * The reason why this significant battle of the Rev. War was named "The Battle of Bennington " is a whole different (political) story! George W.
