    3. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote enquiring about the most likely burial ground for someone with little money dying in Newport. Since that time, I have expanded my family branches by leaps and bounds and would like to know if anyone has any connections they would like to explore with me. William BARLAS and Janet BARLAS (McLean) arrived in Rhode Island in April 1880 with 3 daughters, Isabella, Mary and Jessie. William was killed in August 1880 in Providence while building the new cathedral there. Janet and the girls then moved to Newport where they lived for the rest of their lives. Isabella married Roderick F. O'CONNOR and had no children. Mary W. BARLAS married Dudley P BACHELLER and they had at least 2 children. Jeanette, who married a James MARTLAND and D.P. BACHELLER Jr. Jessie McDonald BARLAS married a Walter E. FISHER and they had one daughter- Harriet. All of the girls were prominent members of the First Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star, Mineola Council, Degree of Pocahontas; and of the Daughters of the Thistle. This last information comes from their obituaries. One of my first questions has to be - Would anybody know what these organizations are all about? Just thought I would post these new findings and hope someone one out there shares a connection somewhere! Thanks, Karen
