Hello. I just joined the list the other day. Using original records, I've worked my way from the Midwest to Canada and then to New York. My ancestors' trail now leads me to Tiverton/Newport Rhode Island and Freetown Bristol Co. Massachusetts. I have a few questions. First, Is anyone researching any RIDER families that were of Newport or Tiverton in the 1740s or prior? How about any HILL or TUCKER families? Second, I haven't seen too many published indexes, abstracts etc for Newport (Tiverton) nor much in way of films of original records by the LDS. Where would the early (1740s or prior) probate/deeds be held, the courthouse/land records office or archive or other? Third, For onsite research in this area what archives, societies, libraries, other government offices, etc. would be the "hot spots" to hit for this early time period (1740s or prior)?
