Hi: I am new to this list, so if I have a question that you have heard many times before, please excuse it. I am researching a couple- William and Janet Barlas who immigrated to the US in approx 1879. They are found on the June 1880 census living in Providence R.I. On August 13, 1880 William dies in Newport R.I. On the listing from Ancestry, the next of kin are listed as a George and Emeline Barker, which would lead me to believe that his wife is not there and still living in Providence at that time. Subsequently, in 1888 his widow is found in the Newport city directory. My questions are 1. Taking into consideration that these people were almost certainly without money, do you think that William have been buried in Newport? 2. When his wife moved to Newport, she first lived on and one of her daughters worked on Thames Street while another daughter worked at the Commercial Wharf. Which cemeteries would he most likely have been buried in? 3. Would the original death certificate indicate the place of burial. My cousin/co-researcher is coming to the area in June and would love to be able to locate a place of burial. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Karen Kushnir
