Kingston Tivertonians: Please.... I need some help. I have a man named Roger Cory/Corey who died apparently in 1799. His will was written in 1793, but proven in Oct 1799. His death I got from the Newport Co, RI marriages from probate records, and his Probate/Will says it was proven in S.K.which I believe is South Kingston. The only two references I found are {Ti 5:512 and Ti 7:46} and I figured the 'Ti' meant Tiverton, so I wrote to the town clerk of Tiverton. The town clerk said he can only find one {Ti 5:512} and it is only one page. I'm sure Roger Corey had more than one page of probate because I have seen information where it discussed that Roger Corey married a widow Susannah Francis, and named her 2 children of her previous marriage and how she filed to settle his estate.....and, Roger Corey seemed fairly well off. If most of the probate is not in Tiverton, does anyone know where it might be housed and/or where I should write? Down here in Texas, all proba! te is kept at the county level in a county probate court. You just order the whole probate package and you get the Will, settlement of estate, Inventory, etc.. Things apparently aren't that simple up there in Rhode Island :~). I could really use some help. thanks, Kathy Wells Kathy & David Wells 425 Evergreen Dr., Hurst, Texas 76054 rebeltrumpet@sbcglobal.net My Homepage http://www.geocities.com/kathywells2002/index.html Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Tent #1, Texas (Past President & Registrar) http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Quarters/7706/DUV.html Member of Mayflower Society http://geocities.com/texasmayflower/index.html ------------------------------------------------------------ "History is the essence of innumerable biographies" - Carlyle ==== RINEWPOR Mailing List ==== How to Write a Good Query http://www.rootsweb.com/~rigenweb/queries.html To unsubscribe: write unsubscribe and mailto:RINEWPOR-L-request@rootsweb.com Advertisements are added below against the wishes of this list manager ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
