Does anyone have any inforamation on the Fall River Bleachery? Could someone possibly locate who the owner of it was? (I think Jack Dempsey) Need to confirm this...Also any information on incorporation dates, dates of transfer of ownership..anything. From my information, the time frame would be 1875 or so. THanks Michele
I am looking for some information on when Fall River was a part of Newport County RI and when it become part of Massachusetts. Have looked at 1860 census, believe part of RI then....can anyone help? Thanks Michele
Am I too sensitive ? Someone asked me to share my family tree with them. I was on the Family Tree Maker site this morning, and there was my tree from my grandparents on back, including the unique facts of their lives which I had added and the 2 years of research I had done. I had planned to submit it myself when my lines were complete and my documentation finished. I lost my 8000 person family tree 2 years ago, and have just recently brought it back up to 8000 with many more reference sources and facts than I had in my first tree. I kind of feel that my tree has been lost again. I am just amazed at the persons audacity. Jo

I am hoping someone on the list will be able to assist me with a look-up. I believe my ancestor Samuel Allen was born 6 Jun 1745 in Tiverton--previously Bristol Co., Mass., but by that date in Newport Co., RI. Does anyone have the vital records to look for his birth record? I am hoping he is the son of Gideon Allen and Elizabeth (Hoxie) Allen, but so far haven't been able to prove the crucial links. The family is in Dartmouth, MA, afterwards, but at Gideon's 1742 marriage he was from Tiverton and I'm hoping their children were born there. ANY help would be appreciated, as Rhode Island research is completely new to me. Thank you, Andrea Crowell ACrowell@email.msn.com
This is rather inactive list, but I need help pronto. I would like to call or email the County to see if I can find something about a death certificate for a John Alvin Edes. He died in Newport, but was buried in Taunton, MA. Through contact on MABristol Co. list I have found where his grave is and more concerning his wife...& her family. These are my great and greatgreatgrandparents. Wow! And all this from way out here in Washington state. I am looking for info on McNulty also. Paulette
Hello everyone, I am helping a friend who is hoping to make contact with the descendants of Joseph WOLFF, d. 1862. His grandson, HENRY DRUMMOND-WOLFF [1899-1982] married an American lady named Margaret, daughter of Gibson FAHNESTOCK of Newport, Rhode Island. They had one daughter but she knows not her name or whether she has any descendants. The British "Who Was Who" gives him two addresses one of which was Newport, Rhode Island, and says he was a member of the Clambake Club in Newport. I know this is a very long shot, but does anyone know of his daughter and hopefully her family? Many thanks, Ruth Riding [ruth.riding@virgin.net]
Hello everyone, Would be most grateful if someone could send me the address [snailmail as well as E-mail if possible] of the Newport Public Library's address. I would like to make an enquiry of them. Many thanks, Ruth Riding, [ruth.riding@virgin.net]
Looking for any of the following SMITHs in Newport about 1910: 1. James Smith (b. 1858) and wife Elisabeth 2. Alexander Smith (b. 1862) Brian Manson Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Looking for a WILSON family of Newport. In particular, Agnes WILSON (from an obituary in St. Louis about 1910) who passed away about 1910. She was a widow, 75 years of age (born in Renfrewshire,Scotland) and lived with her son in Newport. My records show two sons: Peter (b.c. 1873) and Alexander (b.c. 1875). Her deceased husband was Thomas. On an obituary there is a reference to a Mrs. A.E. Wiedmer, a niece. The obituary also indicated that she had lived "for several years in Newport". For both Agnes and her husband, this was their second marriage. Agnes was first married, then widowed, to Alexander SMITH in Scotland. By her first marriage, she had sons James and Alexander SMITH. The reference in the obituary could be for one of them or Peter and Alexander Wilson of her second marriage. Agnes was my gg grandmother. Brian Manson Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
