Hello listers, I have managed to set up another mail list that can be used by all to post any type of message you wish. The category and Name may be misleading but you are free to use it for anything you want to post, the only restriction is that attachments are not allowed, however there is a place to upload and download files if you have something you wish to share with others Some of the features are: You can post photos and files to share with others. There is a calendar to post upcoming events, It will be very helpful for planning events such as reunions, meetings, chat sessions, etc.. There is a chat feature that is set up automatically by clicking on a couple of buttons that will allow members to have live chat sessions. There is a "promote" feature that will allow you to send invitations to others to join the list. I hope that you will visit the new mail list site at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Rhode_Island/ to view and use its many features. NOTE TO AOL USERS: I have found that if you are on AOL that it is better to start up AOL then start your Internet Explorer browser to access the site, the pages load much faster through IE, I haven't tried other browsers but the pages load very slowly using AOL's browser. Hi All, Is there anyone on the list that could do an obit look up on Thomas Perry 87yrs old that died in Jamestown, RI on Feb 4, 1950. His wife was Mary Avilla. It will say he was about 87yrs old and was born in Faial, Azores. I'm looking for clues for a missing sister of my Grandfather that came from the New Bedford area to the funeral. Hope to find her married name. Thanks for any help you can provide. ~Patricia~

Hi all, We have 6 mail lists in Rhode Island, the RIgenweb list is statewide, then we also have one for each county, I posted the same message about the reunion site to each mail list in case some of the county lists subscribers are not subscribed to the state list and might be interested in a reunion also, there probably will be some names come up that are unfamiliar to some of you. The idea did originate on the state list but I'm sure every list may have somebody who may be interested. William FINCH, b. c1730, (PA? MA? Eng?) is said to have been in PA before 1750, then soon after that he was in Newport RI. He married, 1753 Newport, Margaret Topham. He was a mariner, as were his 6 sons -- 4 of whom were lost at sea. The Finch house still stands in Newport, with an historical plaque on it indicating it was build by Wm Finch. I have some data on some of the families allied with this family, and will be happy to share what I have if anyone is interested in this line. Doris....A Texan in Georgia.....
