Hello to all! I am researching the JORDAN family of Kent County, RI. They settled mainly in the towns of Coventry, and surrounding towns. My line stems thusly: I. Asa Jordan, b. 28 Nov 1788, Coventry, Kent, RI; m. Mary Pickett, about 1810, (town?) Kent Co., RI; d. 02 Apr 1871, Coventry?, Kent, RI. *Mary (Pickett) Jordan, b. 20 Jan 1793, (town, RI?); d. betw. 1870-1880. Mary purchased and kept the Jordan-Keith Family Bible, from about 1850 until about 1870. I believe that Asa's father may have been Edmond Jordan (Jr.), also of Kent Co., RI, but I have no evidence, other than the censuses where Edmond Jr. is listed living close to Asa. *Children of Asa & Mary (from family bible so no m. or d. dates): 1) John S. Jordan, b. 29 Jan 1811. 2) Gordis N. Jordan, b. 16 Sep 1812. 3) Erastus Charles Jordan (my ancestor) b. 16 Aug 1816 (Family Bible), (Foster, RI?); m. (VR)Elizabeth Ann "Betsey" Reynolds, 23 Dec 1841, Millbury, Worcester Co., MA; d. (VR)30 Mar 1891, Millbury, Worcester Co., MA; Bur. Millbury, Worcester Co., MA. Erastus served in the Massachusetts infantry in the Civil War. 4) Mary A. Jordan, b. 22 Aug 1819; 5) Douglas B. Jor! dan, 01 Apr 1825. 6) Almy Jordan (my ancestor), b. 13 Nov 1830 (FB), Coventry?, Kent Co., RI; m. Simeon D. Keith, 1847, place unknown (prob. MA); d. (VR) 19 Oct 1906, Sutton, Worcester Co., MA; bur. Lakeview Cemetery, Upton, Worcester Co., MA "Elmy Keith". 7) Calista R. Jordan, b. (FB) 12 Jun 1834, m. to 1) Mr. Hill, no info, and 2) William R. Wilkinson; Calista kept the Family Bible from about 1870 until 1897, when it went to Erastus' granddaughter, Eva B. (Jordan) Keith (my Great-Grandmother). This is where my Kent County families cease. My lines removed to Worcester Co., MA. I would be pleased to recieve any info someone out there my have, or provide info on some more of my ancestry, should anyone be desirous of it.
