    3. Hi Betty, First, not for sympathy but just FYI because of a back injury, sitting (this includes driving) and standing aggravates my back so what I can do to help may be very limited and may take some time. Depends how I feel. Because I am out of work I can not afford to spend any extra money on copies, etc. I just can't do a lot of research. Second, my suspicions were correct, there are a lot of Greene/Green's buried in Coventry, at least a couple of hundred. The following is from the book of Coventry Rhode Island Historical Cemeteries by Dr. Bill Eddleman & John E Sterling, published in 1996. The book can be purchased from Cemetery Books, 10 Signal Ridge Way, East Greenwich, RI 02818. I have no idea of the cost. Library of Congress Card #96-79500. To give you an example of how many Greene/Green's there are, on the one page I copied there are 30 graves listed, 25 of which belong to a Greene/Green and all seem to be related. For example: Othniel Green, s/o James & Rebeckah is in Section I, Lot 0011. In Lot 0008 is James brother John and it appears in Lot 0005 is their father John. Here is the info on your James Greene (info off of gravestone): Section I, Lot 0009, Greene, James, Capt, 1686c, 9 May 1771, Age 86, [w/o Rebecah (Cahoone); s/o John & Abigail D; gs/o John]; Carver: Jonathan Roberts 'erected by Lieut. Col Issac Greene Esq. in memory of his Father' [Vital records: Homestead near Maroon Swamp] Note: There is also a picture of the gravestone in the book. Section I, Lot 0010, Greene, Rebeckah ([Cahoone]) ;1702c, 21 Jul 1786, age 84 w/o James; [d/o Nathaniel Cahoone]; Arnold read as 'Abiakeh Greene' Hope this helps. Dick "Betty G.
