Hi Betty, I have not forgotten about you. I have a new back brace and have having a lot of problems with it. I still have more information to send you. The Coventry Town Library called me with the only information it had on "Maroon Swamp". They believe that it could be in the Mapleroot area, which makes sense as your Greene's are buried in the Mapleroot Cemetery. What is more interesting is one of the pages they gave me from the 1885 Census. On page 17, Kent County-Coventry. "Kent County was taken from Providence County and incorporated with its present limits June 15, 1750. It extends from Narragansett Bay on the east to the Connecticut line on the west. It has four towns: Coventry, East Greenwhich, West Greenwich and Warwick." This to me means that anything prior to June 15, 1750 would in fact be in the Providence records. It did seem strange to me that there was only a handful of people born in Coventry and that several family members where recorded on each page. Could be that the founders of Coventry government each recorded they families as they knew it. It would be interesting to check the Providence records. Also since Coventry was not founded until 1750 then anyone born, died or was married here was actually born, died or married in Providence. "Is there a book by Gen. George W. Greene?" I think they have a copy of it at the East Greenwich Library. Dick Young "Betty G. Tripp" wrote: > --------- Forwarded message ---------- > From: Betty G.
