I am trying to find out where deeds are housed in Kent County. Are they housed in the Towns or at the County level. Also can copies of deeds be obtained through the mail. Researching Kenyon families that moved from Rhode Island to Washington and Warren County, New York. Thanks. Bob Green
Hello Listers, My 2nd G.G.F. migrated to Niagara Co. NY c:1808, in my research I obtained some church records, I organized the name lists and put them online for you to read, there are many Rhode Island surnames in the list. There is not any more information other than the names and what few notes that are listed, if any one can help out with the correct spellings I would be very grateful. You can view the list at the following URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~rikent/niagara.htm Enjoy.. -- Arlan Maguire... Looking for family of Benjamin F. Cobb, b. RI abt. 1829. Believe his parents to be Henry Cobb and Arrabela Lewis. Thank you, Judy
I am seeking "Ebenezer, of Coventry" cited on the marriage license as the father of Panima "Tama' "tammy" Greene who m. Peleg R. Wood on 4 Dec 1808 at Coventry, RI. This Ebenezer removed to N.Y. with his wife, Phebe Allen, at some time and died there in 1800. He, therefore, was deceased at the time of the wedding, no mother's name mentioned, am I in the wrong place?? TIA Herb Adams http://community.webtv.net/shogun630/TheHoldenAdams (Go Navy)
At this time all I have is Reuben Johnson, born mid 1880's. Later moved to New York. Married Nancy Jennings. Janet

Hello list, I found the following on another mail list: Judy White is hosting a genealogy and historical webring for all of the states and is looking for volunteer hosts for the various states, there is very little for the hosts to do, the sites are all set up and simply need to be adopted. As this is a new project most of the states are still available Each state will have its own webring where persons can list there online genealogy sites and/or historical sites specific to each state. It would be nice to have one set up for Rhode Island as this is one of the biggist starting points in genealogy. I would volunteer but I can't keep up with the online chores I already have. Hello list, I installed a new search engine on the Kent County page at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~rikent/kent.html It is a one word search engine, you can enter any word or name you wish and it will return a list of links, only problem I find is it is pretty repetitious in its listings. I tried it out using the surname "Bennett" and got about 22 hits leading to queries posted by various researchers over the last 3 or 4 years, it will also lead you to registered surname home pages. This is a good way to locate others who are researching similar surnames in Kent County or Rhode Island. Do not be surprised if some of the email addresses are no longer valid on the older postings. Try it out if you wish and send your comments to the list -- Arlan Maguire... I am working on several colonial BENNETT lines and would appreciate getting ANY BENNETT DATA you might have discovered in your research. I have worked through as much of Dorothy Bennett Inderkum's work on the Edward line as I could find, but there are still many incomplete paths. This family was among the early settlers of RI. There were also a number of Bennetts in RI who were descended from the Middleboro line of John Bennett. These are only two of the many lines I am tracing. I am also interested in descendants of James NICHOLS (Thomas 1,2) and his wife Elizabeth (Alexander, James) HULING's family. Good morning to all: My search involves Wanton Rice found in the 1800 Warwick, Kent, RI census. Wanton migrated to Bradford County, PA after marrying Mercy Gardner of Warwick and after fathering Oliver Gardner Rice b. 1792; William Warren Rice b. 1795; Mercy Ann Rice b. 1798 and Benjamin Gorton Rice b. 1800. Mercy Gardner Rice passed away in a flu epidemic in 1812 with Wanton apparantly remarrying (2nd spouse unknown) and having other children (confirmed by 1820/1830 Athens, Bradford County censuses). There is good reason to believe that Wanton or Oliver is my GGGGrandfather. I seek descendant and ancestral information. Bob Rice, Mechanicsburg, PA

Hello list, I need your help, this list is for your benefit and can be very useful in your research, however it seems we cannot get any discussions going, all it takes is a few postings to get it going good. You can ask any questions that you may have you can post any information you may have if you know of any genelogical sources you can post them here send us some stories, a little humor is good for everyone. At this time I'd like to ask for a Roll Call so we all can get to know each other a little bit and know which surnames each of us is looking for. The exceptions to this are the Town Records of Seekonk and Pawtucket, which appear in Volumes 9 and 10. Various Church Records are to be found in Volumes 7 through 11. Volume 12 contains information on the Revolutionary service of many Rhode Island men, and also begins the series of newspaper extractions.
