Greetings, Interested as to possible primary source for BROWNE as maiden surname of Mary, wife of Edward Riggs III, or is this from an on-line tree? Based on my own research, there is no proof to support the statement that Edward Riggs III was married to Mary Browne. Edward III was almost certainly married to Mary Munn; the following is from my e-mail about Mary Munn from January 2002: From: "Evan R. Thompson" <evanthompson21@earthlink.net> Subject: [RIGGS-L] Edward Riggs III & Mary Munn Date: Wed, 9 Jan 2002 00:15:19 -0600 In trying to establish the identity of Edward Riggs III's wife, the following might be of some use. Note that this was an oral will, therefore, detailed formalities such as "too thee mye beloved darling datter" etc. are left out. ---- New Haven Probate Records, Volume One, Part Two, page 6 "A writting presented as the last will and testament of Daniell Munne of Milford deceased exhibited in County Court held at New Haven June 13th 1666 Wee heard Daniell Munne say that all that I have, that is my owne estate I give to Mary Rigs, onely if any of my brethren come, and be as strangers here, that shee would carry it kindly to him or them, and might give to him or them twenty or thirty shillings. Robert Deneson his R marke Mrs Sarah Whitman S W her marke The witnesses sworn and administration granted to Mary Rigs." ----- If "Mary Rigs" is the wife of Edward III, they were married prior to 13 June 1666. Of course, nothing in the above cited probate record directly establishes that Mary "Rigs" was the daughter of "Daniell Munne," but it is very strong indirect evidence. Hopefully this clears up the confusion.
