Is the spelling of the grandsons' surnames in any way similar to RIGGS? A variation of it? What counties were involved and what general time frame? Sometimes people changed spelling of their names or had it changed for them. If they did it themselves, they may have had excellent reasons for doing so, and I don't mean your tradition skeleton in the closet. Just a thought.
