Hi Sue, Wallace's "Genealogy of the Riggs Family" includes your John as #71, under the seventh generation from Edward of Roxbury. According to Wallace, Mary Beecher died 16DEC1827 and he remarried Betsey Hawkins 06MCH1829 who died without issue, John dying at Oxford 14NOV1855. He doesn't list a Samuel though amongst their 9 children. And, to save you asking, he doesn't include any Samuel b 1796, either. I'm afraid I don't have any information other than the above that can help you.
