One Elizabeth Sutton is said to have wed Samuel Riggs, born 1796, son of Bethuel. They may be what brought in the Sutton element to the conversation. If someone is confused, it is probably because of me...or that's what my husband would vote!!! lol I have a William SUTTON married to a Winifred PEAKE...now because I tend to think in spirals, circles, and all other manner of designs, I connected the dots like this: Stead, listed his Riggs, which I believe he said was the work of another researcher. It included a GREEN BERRY (one of my PHILLIP's family names, likely a relative and a well known politician at the time...and a Carter, found all the way in my family from Lincoln to Nelson Counties..). Led me to this: Winifred PEAKE's brother Robert married an Elizabeth CLARK. They had Carter PEAKE, who married Elizabeth RIGGS, my G.G.G. Grandparents. Samuel b. 1796 would be too young to have had my Elizabeth RIGGS, wife of Carter PEAKE, as she was born 1801. But he could have been her brother. There are, I guess, no records to indicate that though. Carter and Elizabeth's daughter Nancy Nevitt PEAKE married William BEALL PHILLIPS, son of Thomas THORNTON PHILLIPS. The THORNTON name also appears in Stead's chart work. I have the Phillips and the Peakes well documented and am trying to get the Phillips back to VA and/or Maryland, where they seem to have been before to KY. * Robert PEAKE, in 1765, is found in Prince William County, VA. (father of Carter Peake m. to Elizabeth Riggs, who is a brick wall of mine) This line traces back to 440 a.d. * Richard BEALL, father of Wm. traces back to Prince George, Upper Marlboro, Maryland. (his daughter married Thomas Thornton Phillips) ...my Bealls are of the brothers of Ninian, so far as I know, not directly related to the giant himself.. This line traces back to Ninian's infol, but his wife's line traces back to 440 a.d. * James PHILLIPS, was likely of or held titles anyway, in Baltimore Maryland . James apparently married the sister of Samuel CARTWRIGHT (Cartwright's Creek which runs through Station's Run...a number of Stations set up in KY to assure the safety of the settlers into that area..known for it's salt. ) Cartwright a contemporary of Daniel BOONE's, and the Phillips had dealings with Boone as witness to the lands they obtained so they may have traveled together or in conjunction at this time. The most significant link that this leads me to, is that anyone in a position of securing land at this time, would have been most interested in and perhaps following the trail of these people, who went out into the wilderness and did establish these stations, which we have all seen in our history books...well I'm getting ancient, so I'm not sure they are still there. James is expected by many, to be the father of the 4 Phillips' brothers, Of Phillips Station and Station's Run. I am related to 3 of the 4 assumed brothers. LETICIA BLAND PHILLIPS, traces back to 440 a.d. She was wife of the youngest of the 4 assumed brothers...Wm.
