Bobby, I am thinking I have found the will of William Riggs born about 1785 and who died in 1828 Ray County, MO. I think this William is the same William as the one who is said to have died in 1833 in his father's house. (?) Unless I am mistaken, and I will double check the names of the children of the two Williams, but I think a lot of them are the same names. Witnesses to this will: John Splawn, Jr, John Splawn, Sr, Samuel Riggs, and Reuben Clark. A Martha Barnes is connected to this William somehow, first wife maybe? His child by his first wife is Reuben Riggs, Sr. Then he has a wife listed as Eleanor Riggs, who inherited land for as long as she remained a widow. Names of minor children: Sally, Kisiah, Enoch and Uel. And a Patsey Barnes is listed as one of William's heirs. Other names connected to this family are Stollings, Fields, Drake, and Brown, and Odell. A Thomas Riggs was appointed guardian to Nancy Riggs, orphan of the above William, who tried to have her declared insane; but the court found her sane and appointe Benjamin Fields as her guardian. I wondered why it took nearly twenty years to settle the estate. But I suspect now that it was because of the minor children, who would inherit land when they matured. Any of these names connect to your wife's family of Riggs? Sue ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month!
