All evidence points to Jessee RIGGS [1758--1832] the son of Edward RIGGS [1720--1820] as being buried beside his wife Rachel in New Hope Cemetery, located on Fishing Ford Road near Talley Station in Marshall Co, TN. Inscription on the gravestone of Rachel RIGGS: "Here lies Rachel RIGGS, wife of Jessie RIGGS, was born April the 6th day, 1771 and was married Feb. the 10th, 1791, Dec'd September the 25th day, 1816, war the mother of 6 suns and 8 daughters." Two other RIGGS tombstones of children of Jessie and Rachel RIGGS: 1812 Here lies the daughter of Jesse & Rachel RIGGS was born & died the 25th Decr. 1812 1816 Here lies the Sun of Jessie & R. A. RIGGS was born & Dec'd September the 22, 1816 NOTE: Rachel died 3 days after the baby in 1816.........I am curious to know if the "A" is the initial of her maiden name or her middle "given name".
