Hi, Cousins, Forgive me if you get this message twice--it's going to both the Riggs and Ponder mailing lists. Does anyone out there have any kind of record that establishes my ggg grandfather Augustus Riggs (md. Elizabeth Ann Treadaway, died in a prison camp in 1861 in Brooklyn NY) as the son of Jesse Riggs and Rebecca Ponder? Augustus is listed in the 1850 Itawamba Co. MS census as 23 years old, which would put his birthyear as 1827, but there is only one son listed with Jesse and Rebecca in the 1830 census, who is presumably Henderson, born in 1830. Of course we all know that census records can be way off. I got the information that I have about Augustus' parents from those elusive "family records" which can also be pretty far off the track. It's my gut feeling that Augustus belongs to Jesse and Rebecca, but I have no proof. Anyone? Thanks for your help, Ginny NorthGet more from the Web.
